I started trying to reel in my hypoglycemia and was looking for something to replace my habitual cold cereal breakfast. After trying 3 or 4 protein powders from the supermarket and health food store, I used an online nutritional screener to zero in on exactly what I was looking for and wound up with this. It tastes better than anything else I tried. I almost always make it in the blender with skim milk + 7 ice cubes + a banana or peanut butter. Sometimes I switch it up and eat an egg/toast for breakfast and on those days, I take a shake to work for lunch. Amazon is cheaper, more convenient, and less hassle for me than the local dealer (GNC) so I buy it here.

When I’m done with a container, I use it in the garage for storage. I use a black magic marker to write on the top what’s inside. I’ve got a place where they stack like cordwood. The container is large enough to hold quite a bit of stuff and I’ve got one each for nut’s & bolts, ac/dc adaptors, plant fertilizer, etc. etc.

I just bought this from Amazon in Strawberry Flavor, I have to say this tastes amazing. Seriously it is like drinking strawberry milk, it’s that good. I’m sure kids would drink it too if you let them (probably shouldn’t). I bought this protein since BSN has a good brand perception, and this was advertised as a “lean protein”.

Well, I should have done more comparison shopping and looked up the nutrition facts.

    One Scoop has:
    190 Calories
    6 grams fat
    13 grams of carbs
    22 grams of protein

    Compare to…

Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard 100% Whey (one scoop)
    130 Calories
    2 grams of fat
    4 grams of carbs
    24 grams of protein

So with Syntha-6 you have a protein that has 60 more calories, 4 more grams of fat, 9 grams more of carbs, and 2 LESS grams of protein than a similar/cheaper ON product.

Now of course, the taste is incomparable. I’ve tried ON’s whey and syntha 6 wins the taste competition hands down no questions asked. And I’m sure the 6 protein blend is great (mixture of whey, casein, egg proteins). But you can’t really call this a “lean” protein powder when it is clearly on the high end of the calorie count.

I still like this product, but I think it’s more suited to those wanting to bulk/gain mass. If you want to cut down, you might want to look somewhere else.

The first protein powder I’ve ever finished!, January 12, 2012

I’ve tried several different protein powders over the years, but I’ve never been able to stomach the taste of any of them with water alone, and only barely with milk. My favorite for a long time was the GNC chocolate whey protein. Folks, everything else is pure gruel compared to Syntha-6.

I purchased a 2.91 pound jug of “Chocolate Milkshake.” I tried it with milk and it was good but really creamy. With trepidation, I tried it with nothing but water… and found that it was DELICIOUS, especially if you add a few ice cubes. Not only is it delicious, it also keeps me full for hours! This stuff is so good, it’s the first jug of protein powder I’ve ever actually FINISHED!

I just ordered two more jugs: chocolate, and “Vanilla Ice Cream.” A few minutes ago I took a scoop of the vanilla in 5 ounces of water… and it tastes exactly like melty vanilla ice cream. It is sooo delicious, perhaps even moreso than the chocolate! It definitely has a sweeter taste — it was so sweet that I had to check the label to confirm that, yep, it still has only 2 grams of sugar. SO good.

I drink this stuff every day. I usually shake up a couple scoops with 10 ounces of water before I leave the house (note: a good shaker bottle is a necessity), and have it along with a piece of fruit for carbs. It keeps me full to the point that I have to remind myself when it’s time for lunch! I generally drink more on weight-lifting days, and if it’s near bedtime and I realize my protein intake was low for the day, I’ll make a quick shake with one scoop.

My muscles have definitely felt fuller since I’ve started drinking this regularly, and my strength has gone up, and my body weight has gone down.

    100% RECOMMENDED!

Update, September 2012: I continue to adore this protein powder. My current method of making the drink is mixing two rounded scoops with 10 ounces of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, adding a few drops of peppermint extract, a few ice cubes, and shaking it all up in my Blender Bottle (the one with the metal ball that eliminates clumps). It tastes DIVINE, it and at 450 calories it fills me up for hours. At night I’ll drink it alone for some protein before I go to bed, and in the morning I’ll have it with a piece of fruit. So tasty! Wow!
