    I am managing a chronic progressive heart disease using supplements and herbals. Ribose is part of Dr Stephen Sinatra’s “awesome foursome” – magnesium, CoQ10, carnitine and ribose. I start with magnesium, later added CoQ10 and after 10 months added carnitine and ribose. I had progressed from confinement to bed (heart rate would go to >200 if I got up), to limited activity (no aerobic walking, intermittent A-Fib) with the magnesium and CoQ10. 10 months after starting I added the carnitine and ribose and arrived at “awesome” – 10,000 steps in one day and 5000 – 8000 aerobic steps. More awesome is I have had no bouts of A-Fib since the awesome foursome were all in place which is now 6 months ago. This adventure started 2 years ago. I spent one year recovering from drug side effects/sub diseases I had to deal with after treatment with AMA/ACC “guideline” pharmaceuticals. My wonky heart with its leaky/stenosed valves is now able to support me with good quality of life and I am A-Fib free since adding the carnitine & ribose. I do not tolerate the ribose very well – hits me in the gut – so I take some in capsule form and use the powder daily to cover increased activity and/or high normal heart rate. My goal is to let the disease progress naturally, to stay sub-acute and to avoid slash and burn interventions.

    I have fibromyalgia, read about D-Ribose and I’ve been taking it for over 6 months. It truly does help with fatigue and mental hiccups. Buy it in powder form for the best value. I stir it up in my morning orange juice. I take around 20 grams a day, 10 at the very least. The price is usually the same with any mfg, but if you shop around you can get free (amazon prime) shipping and save a bit of money. Basically, it costs around $30 a month for D-Ribose — regardless of where or who you buy the powder from…

    Have chronic fatigue and sometimes this is all that gets me through the day. Tried Now brand, also a good value but this one mixes and tastes better. Both help with energy. Started with 2 scoops/day for 2 months and reduced to 1/day. Have read it dies not work for everyone and that some people don’t need to continue indefinitely as I do. On bad days I increase the dose.
