It’s the perfect protein mix if approached as a clean slate!, August 23, 2010

I am a proud owner of celiacs disease and my body has never agreed with whey protein powders. If they wouldn’t make me sick they would at least give me a boatload of gas and indigestion. Now Pea Protein goes down incredibly smooth and causes me no problems. I’ve also struggled with all whey protein powders having an artificial taste, texture and smell to it that turns me right off.
For the first month or so I could definitely sense the pea flavor of it, but I personally liked it and it is quite neutral. A month or so later I discovered how to make protein-shakes(something you simply MUST try, it’s a totally different game that way), I realized how perfect this mix is. It’s basically a clean slate that is PACKED with protein and no artificial flavoring, which allows you to add anything you want to it and make your own creation. It’s the vodka of protein shakes. I personally loved the thicker, chalkier texture of this stuff as well, though my tastes are admittedly out of the ordinary.
The 28g of protein is fabulous, making the mix extremely cost efficient, especially considering you could honestly use a smaller scoop-load and still get a good amount of protein in. The amino acid counts are great and the lack of carbs is very good.
If you’re in the market for a cleaner source of protein and are allergen prone, NOW protein powder comes highly recommended.
P.S. I always buy 2 containers at a time, usually running me around $38-40$, which is a great value in my opinion.

Awesome protein for shakes!, August 18, 2009

This is my FAVORITE protein to make shakes with – it’s got almost no carbs, it blends great, and digests so easily that I get an energy boost immediately after drinking. I go through this stuff like crazy! Blend it with frozen bananas, almond milk, a little bit of peanut butter for fat and ground flax (like I do), and you’ll love it too. Yay, pea protein!!
