  • Long-Chain EPA & DHA Oils
  • Easier-To-Swallow Softgels

Fish Oils contain long-chain fatty acids, with equally long names like docosahexenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). DHA and EPA are essential fats that cannot be made by your body. So, consuming them through foods like salmon and supplements such as the ON Fish Oil Softgels is the only way to get DHA and EPA. Better yet, our Fish Oil Softgels are enteric coated, which means that you get all of the benefits of fish oils without the fishy aftertaste that you might encounter without t

One of those “bargain” fish-oils with hardly any active ingredient (EPA & DHA), October 12, 2012

Here’s one problem: many people get confused about the dosage. Why? Because they don’t realize there’s a difference between a gram of fish oil and a gram of its active ingredients (the omega-3s DHA and EPA.) The dose often recommended is 1 gram of omega-3s — the EPA and the DHA together. But depending on the brand, a 1 gram (1,000 milligram) fish oil capsule may contain only 300 milligrams of DHA and EPA combined. So to get 1 gram of omega-3s, you’d have to take four capsules — 4 grams of fish oil.

    As of this review:
    1. Notice there isn’t a Nutrition label on this product image on the Amazon product page.
    2. Notice the product description does not specify the mg of EPA or DHA.

I did find the Nutrition information on the active ingredients for this product from another site:
    – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – —
    Fish Oil 1000mg(1 g)
EPA (Eicosapentaenoic Acid) – NOT LISTED
DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) – NOT LISTED
    Total Omega-3 Fatty Acids 300mg
    – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – – —

So this product has 300mg of Omega-3’s and it DOES not specify what amount of this 300mg is from EPA or DHA. They couldn’t bother to figure it out?

I expected better from Optimum Nutrition (ON).
I expected much better from Amazon, because EPA and DHA are the active ingredients, how can you not ensure fishoil products pages have this information?

I work with cardiovascular surgeons everyday and everyone of them have told me that introducing fish oils into one’s diet brings a bunch of benefits- blood flow, weight loss, and digestive health.
