So, I pretty much put all the good attributes of this whey isolate powder in the title. It needs to be pointed out that a lot of the Whey protein and other whey drinks have a significant amount of cholesterol, ranging from 25% to over 35% daily values in each scoop. That’s a lot if you plan to drink more than one scoop a day.

From the back of the label, per scoop, there are 30gm protein, 4gm carbohydrates (1gm sugar), 0mg cholesterol, 0.5gm fat, and 140 total calories.

I got this initially at my local Costco, and have also purchased this from the online Walmart site. Prices here on Amazon were higher for some time, although they seem to have gone down to comparable levels lately.

If you are not a bodybuilder, this is also a useful part of a low carb diet.

You’ll Love the Flavor and Purity of the Protein, October 23, 2011

I purchased the whey isolate because it is pure protein. A full serving (two scoops) is 58 grams of protein. I have enjoyed it because it is a soft powder compared to regular drinks and mixes very easily. The smell isn’t the best but once you start drinking you’ll be satisfied. I never got the same bloated feeling that I do with other drinks, including Muscle Milk. It is a simple powder that performs. Did I notice an increase in strength or muscle size? It seems to be the same as others. I have to continue use and will update my review in the future. In short, I will buy from Six Star again because it is a great product.

Best tasting protein powder, January 30, 2013

I have been using whey protein on almost a daily basis for over a year, and after trying several brands have stuck to the Optimum Nutrition offerings. I skipped on Six Star thinking “if it’s offered in Walmart, it can’t be that good…”, but recently chose to try another powder in an effort to get more protein per serving, and to compare to ON for flavor.

At roughly the same price per serving, and 25% more protein per serving, this seemed like a no brainer. I decided to take a gamble and went with the Decadent Chocolate flavor. When I got the package in I was pleased with the contents on the nutritional label. Not only did it have 50% less sodium, no cholesterol, less fat and carbs, and more protein, but it also had only 10 Cal more per serving. I was then further pleased when I saw how well it mixes. I’ve tried it now with both water and milk, and in both it dissolved very well. I use the Original 28oz Blender Bottle Black to mix my protein, and with ON I had the issue where it would stick to the bottle or would not blend well enough. Then when it did, sometimes there would be undissolved blobs unless I shook it really well for an extended period of time, let it sit for a couple minutes, then shook it again. With Six Star, the powder is so fine it blends very easily, and the resulting shake is more consistent, lacking the blobs of powder.

Now to the good part… flavor. I got used to ON’s flavor.. how good should a protein shake taste? It’s a healthy shake, not a dessert at McDonald’s. I’ve tried several and settled on the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, Double Rich Chocolate, 5 Pound or the Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Gold Standard, Extreme Milk Chocolate, 5 Pound for mixing with water. They’re light on flavor, they don’t taste too overpowering, but you can get that chalky flavor from it occasionally… Six Star, on the other hand, tastes like a real milk shake. There is no chalky flavor, it’s sweet enough to taste like a shake, but light enough to taste fulfilling. It’s chocolaty as needed, but it doesn’t taste too artificial. It felt rewarding to drink something this flavorful after a hard workout!

I will continue to use Six Star Pro Nutrition Whey Isolate, Decadent Chocolate, 1.5 Pounds and will likely also try the Six Star Whey Protein Isolate Elite Series French Vanilla Cream, 1.5-Pound. I highly recommend them to anyone struggling with the best protein powder to use. Compared to other shakes, this has reviewed well for arsenic, cadmium, lead, and mercury content…

    Good luck achieving your goals!
