This used to be soy free but they have added soy lecithin to the ingredient list. I dont know why – it was so good before. The old ingredients used to be whey, vanilla flavor and stevia. I am soy sensitive and was so happy to get this – I got it for many months and loved it. I got it this month and noticed the “non-GMO lecithin” now! Ugh.. where to go for a product with no soy. I noticed that the ingredient list in the product description does not have the soy added yet – Amazon needs to change that for those of us that cannot have soy..

I emailed the company to ask about this and here is their response:

    Good morning,

Thank you for your interest in Bluebonnet Nutrition.

All of our Whey Protein Powders now contain non-GMO soy lecithin. It is a soy derived lipid necessary for the agglomeration method which enables the powder to be stirred into beverages.

    Best regards,

I’ve used 4 different types of whey so far. 1 of them was a brand a trainer provided. It tasted great, worked well, but was loaded with artificial junk. Then I moved on to Optimum Nutrition Chocolate, the best tasting of all the brands I’ve had, but it also was loaded with junk. Optimum Nutrition All Natural was after that, but the taste of their Vanilla flavor was just awful, IMO. Then, I got this.

I tried this brand on a spur-of-the-moment decision. I’d actually been looking at buying another tub of the Optimum Nutrition stuff and choking it down as usual, but I saw a review on their product recommending this stuff. Thank God. I purchased this and gave it a try about a week ago.

This stuff is pretty damn good. I love the fact that it’s all-natural, organic, etc. I’ve always been concerned by the amount of strange ingredients in a lot of muscle-building supplements, so this really put my mind at ease. And the taste is surprisingly bearable for only having a couple ingredients! I’m going to try it with almond milk, I have a feeling it’ll work really well with that.

Anyway, long story short, I’d recommend this to anyone and am probably going to continue to purchase this over any other whey. Great job, Bluebonnet.

    Delicious!!!

It looks like this is a recent development, but the container I got stipulates that the whey protein inside is sourced from grass-fed, antibiotic and rBGH-free dairy. I ordered French Vanilla and Chocolate at the same time, and the French Vanilla features “grass-fed” prominently on the label, which the Chocolate does not- it just stipulates that the dairy is antibiotic and rBGH-free. However when I went to the Bluebonnet nutrition website, it does say that all their whey protein isolate flavors do come from grass-fed cows. I am not sure if the labeling is being changed to reflect something that has always been the case and people are just more aware of now, or if the grass-fed dairy is a recent development. In any case, this makes me even more satisfied with my purchase. Healthy and happy cows produce a better quality product, which in turn makes me a happier (and healthier) consumer. I am impressed- Thanks Bluebonnet!
