This is the third rice cooker we’ve owned. It replaces a cheaper and smaller Panasonic model we have been pleased with for several years.

This cooker is a little larger than anticipated. We really like the bigger bowl we have for cooking the rice. And, as you would expect, it is well made and has a rubber seal around the inside of the hinged lid.

Thus far, we have used the cooker mostly for rice. However, we have tried the steamer and found it to be a big plus. We usually mix frozen assortment of vegetables with rice after cooking the two separately. The large steamer in the rice cooker means we can cook the vegetables at the same time as the rice without wasting energy or having to use multiple appliances. That has worked out quite well for us. Another other bonus is that when we cook a pre-prepared meal we often end up with a plastic sachet of sauce (e.g., Mandarin chicken sauce) that we have to again heat separately. With the steamer, we simply place the sachet in the tray with the veggies and everything is ready at the same time.

We primarily eat Jasmine or Basmati brown rice from Trader Joe’s and so have tried both white rice and brown rice setttings. I don’t think our brown rice is quite the rice intended for the brown rice setting because only the white rice setting works well with the brown level of water whereas when we use the brown rice setting, the rice comes out either soggy and water-logged or burnt and stuck to the container.

Other than that, there is only one problem I found with the product: the coated rice bowl the cooker uses has the water levels pressed into the side. And since it’s a dark brown/charcoal almost black, the levels can be very hard to read without a strong light in the kitchen.

Other than that, we had no problems whatsoever.

The only thing I can think of that would improve this product (other than a different, lighter color for the rice bowl) is a timer so, I can set it and forget it and have fresh rice and veggies the minute I get home from work. But, as I said, it does its job very well. I much prefer it to our older rice cooker.

Rice is tricky to cook especially brown rice so the first test of this unit was to rinse some good basmati style rice and see how this handled it One reason brown rice cooks poorly is too short of a cooking period leaving hard kernels or pieces. This unit cooks your brown rice for around 1 hr and fifty mins. The warming feature for the white rice turns off automatically when cooking brown rice so as not to change the flavor. I prefer cooking the rice in 1 cup batches as it has a better fluffy consistency and there is less starchy mess to clean out of the gasket. A rice cooker is a nice thing to have for a good diet and this no stick white and brown rice cooker also heats up and holds stews and soups as well as hot cereals.

The Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker gives good results when cooking rice and steaming vegetables. It does, however, take much longer than cooking or steaming on a stove or steaming in a microwave. The cooker is very easy to clean. The cooking times in the manual are not accurate; the actual cooking time is somewhat less than the manual would indicate.
