I Regret Ever Having Purchased and Used This Product, September 29, 2016

I was more than willing to spend the extra on a plant based organic liquid multi-vitamin, but what I have just found out disturbs me to the point that I will never purchase this product again. I blame myself mostly. I bought into the organic labeling and excellent ingredient list almost a year ago, and I’ve been taking this multi-vitamin nearly every day since then.

What I didn’t realize at the time I first decided to go with this brand is how important 3rd party certification and analysis is. Since then, I’ve checked 3rd party analysis of this brand and found their liquid multi-vitamins contain sodium benzoate. That’s right, this “organic” plant based multi-vitamin has a chemical preservative found in everything from soda to mouth washes and shampoos. While certainly not natural, sodium benzoate is harmless enough by itself. However, when combined with vitamin C, sodium benzoate is known to converge into a different, much more hazardous compound known as Benzene. Benzene is powerful carcinogenic, most commonly found in gasoline. It is considered an occupational hazard and -again- is known to be a carcinogen.

Given that this multi-vitamin contains a high amount of vitamin C, this liquid suspension is essentially a human health hazard waiting to happen. That was what lead me to cancel my subscription to this product. I feel cheated and convinced that this likely did more harm than good. I was further discouraged by LabDoor’s findings that indicated key ingredients were greatly off in one of this company’s products they tested. In fact, one ingredient was off from the label claim by 66%!

The takeaway from this (for me) is that I will only buy supplements that have 3rd party certification like GMP. I’m also going to research companies via 3rd party services like LabDoor from this point forward. Very disappointed in this brand – very.

See updates at end: Received this today and eagerly tried it. Holy moly, that’s a taste I’ve never experienced before. Like a slap to the face for your taste buds, or a mythical beast spitting into your mouth. But the reviews are amazing, and I like that it’s liquid, so I’ll give it a shot and throw my head back for this noxious potion once a day for a month and get back to you on the promised burst of energy I should be experiencing by then. Pray for me. Edited to add: Been taking this a coupe of weeks now, and I have to say it doesn’t taste so bad anymore. Not good, don’t get me wrong, but not nearly as terrible as it did at first. I can imagine one day not even wincing after swallowing, though I’m not there yet. As for my energy level, it is improved, but I also started taking iron at the same time for anemia, so I can’t truly say how much this did or did not help. I plan to continue taking the liquid gold. I call it my swamp stuff, as in, “Oh, no, I forgot to take my swamp stuff,” and a I bring it out at parties for the brave to taste test. What can I say? I’m a glutton for punishment, and oddly curious to see if I grow to like this stuff. Updated to add: I’m now on my third bottle. I did try something cheaper in between, but that made me realize how GOOD this stuff tastes by comparison, so I’m back and singing the swamp stuff’s praises. At least it tastes like vegetables and natural things, instead of chemicals like the cheaper one I tried. It’s swamp stuff for me all the way.
