All Quest Bars are NOT Created Equal …,
Haven’t tried the other Quest Bar flavors — and flavor is not at the top of my list of priorities. If it was, I’d get a Snickers bar. The Chocolate Brownie flavor is good, more than good enough.
But when it comes to the nutritional profile, the Choc Brownie is hands-down the best of the bunch. If nutrition is your top priority, pass up the other Quest Bars and go for this one.
Some details:
* only 6g of fat, compared to 9, 10, and 8 for the vanilla, peanut-butter, and berry flavors. The apple-pie flavor has 5g of fat but is deficient in the other categories below.
* triple the potassium of any of the other bars
* the only bar with Vitamin A (6% U.S. RDA)
* quadruple the iron of the other bars (15% RDA)
* the lowest calories of the other bars (170, compared to 200, 210, 200)
Hope this helps. 😉

OMG! Crack in a Protein Bar!,
My husband has to follow a gluten free diet, and eating can be a tricky proposition when he travels out of the country on business.
The challenge for me has been trying to find a “true” protein bar with low sugar, NO sugar alcohols, no coating that melts, and one that tastes great. I might also add that my husband openly professes that he believes chocolate is one of the four food groups, and that brownies are the world’s most perfect food… so you can probably get some perspective as to the type of challenges I face when trying to keep him properly nourished, especially when he travels.
Enter the chocolate brownie QuestBar… I will not rehash the information the manufacturer has supplied. I will simply say that this HAS to be the world’s most perfect chocolate protein bar.
The Pros:
1) It does not melt… and in fact, improves even more in taste when it warms up
2) Provides 20 grams of protein at only 170 calories
3) At only 1 gram of sugar, it adheres to my own low sugar/low Carb lifestyle
4) As it has no sugar alcohols, there are none of the associated sugar alcohol side effects
5) They taste amazing
The Cons:
1) They are like crack in a wrapper… it’s hard to stay away from them. 🙂
2) Somewhat costlier than other bars (but well worth it)
3) Limited distribution; available only online. You can also purchase directly from the manufacturer, and sign up for a monthly subscription service for a discount, but their subscription service is clumsy, frustrating, and less than intuitive to use… likely to scare users away, (a point I have discussed with them via email).

Especially useful in hot summer!,
I am an “Atkins lifestyle” person, and I eat two bars each day—one in midmorning and one midafternoon. The problem is that their coating melts so easily in the heat that it makes a mess everywhere. I didn’t order enough Atkins bars from Amazon before the heat hit to make it through the summer, and my local stores only carry a couple of varieties, so I searched on Amazon and found these.
They have 4-6 net carbs vs. Atkins 3, but they also have more protein–20 grams vs. 19 for the Chocolate Peanut Butter and then on down for other varieties. These also have a lot of fiber–very satiating, but beware the gastro-intestinal effects—I limit myself to one a day. They don’t have a coating to melt. They also don’t provide the vitamins and minerals the Atkins bars do, fwiw, but I get enough from a healthy diet, usually.
The best thing is that you can unwrap them (not specified on the helpful suggestion included in the package) and nuke them in the microwave for ten seconds–on a plate–they stick to a paper towel–and they really taste like hot cookies. They also stand up to a hot car or purse or pocket a lot better than the coated bars do.
